Santa Lucia hit nine past Marsaskala

Kalkara continued putting icing on the cake after declaring themselves champions last week when they beat Mdina Knights by two goals to nil. Beppe Antignolo opened the score on 42 minutes with Timmy Thomas adding another two minutes into added time.

Santa Lucia continued celebratin­g their historic promotion in style when they destroyed Marsaskala to the tune of nine goals to one at the Centenary Stadium. The goals came from Andre’ Joe Cutajar on 7’, 39’, Nestor Luis Canas 18’ for Marsaskala, Gilbert Camilleri on 31’, 36’, Jean Claude Annati 60’ , a Sebastian Perdomo hat trick on 64’, 85’ and 90’ and finally Omar Farrugia on 72’. Luqa St Andrew’s also confirmed their promotion to the 2nd Division with a 2-1 victory over Zurrieq. Lee Baldacchin­o scored a brace on 13’ and 44’, the latter from a penalty while Bjorn Chetcuti pulled one back for Zurrieq on 53’.

Paul Francis Sumaila gave Ta’ Xbiex the lead on 21 minutes with Royter Degiorgio equalising from the penalty spot on 49 minutes. Royter Degiorgio made it 2-1 for Xghajra on 79 minutes with Christian Wismayer saving a point for Ta’ Xbiex a minute over time through another penalty.
