Wardija and Dingli win again

-

Wardija registered another good win beating Birkirkara to consolidate their second place position in the standings.

Although not showing their best in their smart black new jerseys, they were goodenough to beat the challenge of Birkirkara, who had several regular players missing.

For Wardija, their best player was Rennie Forace who scored a hat trick with Michael Borg Olivier scoring two to remain top of the best scorers list.

In the other game Dingli Desana also had a good win against Marsa WS Barilla to remain with a chance to retain the title of champions which they won last season.

However, the game was not so easy. Until the first half, Marsa were offering a great challenge. It was after the break that Dingli made sure of the three points scoring four goals, two coming from their best player of the day, Malcolm Licari.

In the Coca Cola Division One league, JIVAL won again, surprising leaders Valletta 9-6 in an entertaininng game. Jival made great strides forward in their play recently and have Jean Pierre Abdilla and Abugella Wahashi scoring regularly.

They still have to play two more games, but they seem determined to finish with the first three.

Valletta were more lively at the start and they were level 3-3 going for the break. In the second half, the game remained tight with Jival always in the lead, and Valletta always fighting back, until the last minutes, when Jival scored the goals that mattered.

Zabbar St Patrick keep chasing. They beat Zurrieq W., to go top in the standings. Zabbar had some players that made the difference. They were fitter and this clearly showed in the second half, when they took the initiative as Zurrieq players showed tiredness.

Zurrieq Wolves, as usual showing great sportsmanship and determination, were good as their opponents in the first half and were denied several times by goalkeeper Mauro Valastro. Standings Premier division: 35 Mosta; 33 Wardija; 32 Dingli; 26 Rabat; 22 Marsa; 17 Bkara
