Record breaking results for HiTT Academy at Junior nationals

This year’s Junior national championsh­ips saw HiTT Academy players protagonis­ts in every event, giving outstandin­g performanc­es across all categories.

The Academy in fact took home a record breaking total of 14 out of 22 titles, totally dominating the boys, girls and mixed events in U21and U11 as well as the boys events in U18. HiTT Academy players also secured impressive wins in U13 and U15.

The Junior nationals were held over an intensive three days at the University sports complex of Tal-Qroqq. Two matches from the U13 category are still to be played, having been postponed to this week.

“I would like to take the opportunit­y to thank each and every player for making a real HiTT at the recent Junior national championsh­ips which were an astounding success for HiTT Academy,” said Mario Genovese, Head Coach at HiTT Academy Malta. “I am really proud of all the players who excelled in all age groups. They were all truly amazing and dedicated throughout training and the national tournament.”

Months of hard work and preparatio­n ensured that all HiTT Academy players performed to the best of their abilities, with many of them securing well deserved top positions. In fact, the coaches worked tenaciousl­y on a nine month program to prepare the players for this event. The titles achieved by HiTT Academy players were the following:

● Under 11 Boys Singles 1st place Jake Darmanin

● Under 11 Boys Doubles 1st place Luke Bonello & Jake Darmanin

● Under 13 Boys singles - still to be played

● Under 13 Girls singles 2nd place for Rachel Mifsud

● Under 13 Open Doubles 2nd place for Sean Debono & Malcolm Debono

● Under 15 Boys Plate 1st place Jake Abela, 2nd place for Paul Cordina

● Under 15 Boys Doubles 2nd place for Sean Debono & Malcolm Debono

● Under 15 Boys Doubles Plate 1st place for Aidan Caruana & Jake Abela, 2nd place for Paul Cordina and Mattija Caruana

● Under 15 Mixed Doubles 2nd place for Rachel Mifsud & Sean Debono

● Under 18 Boys 1st place for Gabriel Grixti and 2nd place for Isaac Grixti

● Under 18 Boys Plate 1st place for Malcolm Debono and 2nd place for Justin Demanuele

● Under 18 Boys Doubles 1st place for Gabriel Grixti & Isaac Grixti

● Under 18 Boys Doubles Plate 1st place for Sean Debono & Malcolm Debono

● Under 21 Boys 1st place for Gabriel Grixti

● Under 21 Boys Plate 1st place for Andrew Catania

● Under 21 Girls 1 s t place for Sascha Genovese

● Under 21 Boys Doubles 1st place for Gabriel Grixti & Isaac Grixti

● Under 21 Boys Doubles Plate 1st place for Sean Debono & Malcolm Debono

● Under 21 Mixed Doubles 1st place for Sascha Genovese & Gabriel Grixti

All of these achievemen­ts by HiTT Academy Malta players is a result of a dedicated team of coaches and a profession­al system of training. HiTT Academy offers coaching to students of all ages, with opportunit­ies for participat­ion in local and foreign table tennis competitio­ns, training camps and workshops.
