MalteseSerbian community condemns ‘misguided acts’ of some Serb nationals

-

The Maltese-Serbian community has condemned the aggressive and criminal behaviour committed by Serbian nationals who live in Malta.

In a statement the community said it was “deeply concerned” with the recent upsurge in violence affecting the society in Malta at large.

“Whilst offering our sincere condolences and prayers to the victims of all crimes, we also condemn the misguided acts of some of our nationals.”

The community said it stands firm in its utter refutation of any acts of violence and strongly condemns all aggressive and criminal behaviour.

“Our mission is to bring people together and meaningfully contribute to the local community life, as well as promote cultural, sportive, educational and economic activities. For this reason, we deplore all hostile and criminal behaviour in Malta, but we also share the concern over rising injustice and prejudice in the society in general.

“We strongly believe that the isolated and highly regrettable acts of certain individuals should not detract the public attention from the benefits of our life in a multicultural environment, and the positive impact of the vast majority of the hard-working expat community on Malta’s society and economy.”

The Maltese-Serbian Community said it will remain active in promoting integration and crosscultural understanding to ensure that the benefits of a multicultural environment in our society are conveyed properly.
