Over €700,000 donated more than 1,100 pledge calls
For the third consecutive year, MITA volunteers teamed up with Puttinu Cares for the Good Friday Xarabank programme.
This year’s effort was focused on the pledging system and the subsequent logistics to coordinate the collection of donations. Over 40 MITA volunteers took part in the volunteering assignment, taking telephone calls from contributors during the 4 hour Xarabank programme.
With great satisfaction, the call centre function operated by MITA volunteers handled over 1,100 calls from the general public and companies who collectively donated over €700,000 through the pledging system. This was a challenging and pleasant assignment.
Furthermore, MITA volunteers undertook the logistical coordination of donation collections which was carried out overnight to ensure an organised collection process on Saturday morning by Puttinu Volunteers. A total of 650 collections were scheduled and successfully collected on Saturday.
The Chairperson of the MITA Cares Committee, Wayne Valentine who was tasked to handle this initiative remarked: “It has been another successful assignment with Puttinu Cares whereby MITA Cares has once again demonstrated strong commitment through the tangible and professional support of our employees. This is another testimonial of MITA’s Corporate Social Responsibility towards supporting our Communities. We look forward for our next assignment!”
