Zejtun celebrate title victory with 5-0 win

Zejtun Corinthian­s celebrated winning the 2nd Division Championsh­ip in style when they thrashed Mellieha by five goals to nil at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

This meant, however, that Mellieha were relegated to the Third Division. The goals for Zejtun came from Adrian Carabott on 14’and 56’, Alan Tabone on 36’Anthony Ewurum on 58’ and Neil Tabone on 90’.

St George’s confirmed their Second Division status with an emphatic 4-0 victory over already relegated Ghaxaq at the Sirens Stadium. The Cospicua side scored through Kevin Camilleri on 20’ and 84’, Dylan Caruana on 27’and 35’ and Christian Grech on 38’ from a penalty.

Marsaxlokk and Mgarr United drew 2-2 in their final encounter at the Luxol Stadium. Michael Zammit on 12’ and Ryan Bonello on 55’ put Marsaxlokk two goals up but a brace by Lazar Doric on 65’ and 69’ secured a point for Mgarr.

At the Charles Abela Stadium, Qrendi beat Swieqi United by three goals to nil with Giovanni Galea scoring from a penalty and Josuel Spiteri scoring a brace on 38’ and 44’.

Zabbar St Patrick celebrated their promotion with a 2-0 victory over Gudja United who also retained Second Division status. Shalon Diacono scored on 12’ and Kyle Azzopardi on 31’ found the net for Zabbar.

In a match for 6th and 7th place, Birzebbuga leapfrogge­d Siggiewi with a 1-0 victory. Ronnie Celeste scored the winning goal after 58 minutes.

San Gwann thrashed an under strength Attard by eight goals to nil in the final match at the Sirens Stadium. The goals came from: Alan Borg on 10’, Nezar-Abouaisha on 15’ , a brace by Simon Shead on 55’ and 80’, Sergio hili on 75’, William Abeeb on 83’, Josef Cutajar on 85’ and Niki Muscat on 88’.
