The proposed motorsport park at Ta’ Qali

-

ASMK has thanked the Parliamentary Secretary for Sports, Chris Agius, for clarifying the situation with regards to the construction of the new track on identified land in the Ta’ Qali area.

In a short statement, ASMK said that Agius had confirmed that the alternative location did not for part of the area actually being occupied by ASMK.

ASMK welcomed with pleasure the long awaited project and said it hoped that this project will be built in the least possible time frame so that all motorsport enthusiasts who practice alternative disciplines to that of ASMK, will have an alternative circuit to do so.

The ASMK, as the Federation of Motorcycling in Malta, is willing to offer any assistance in its parameters towards this project to happen in the least possible timeframe.

Parliamentary Secretariat statement

Earlier, the Parliamentary Secretary for Sports said in a statement that it was not true that the promised footprint at Ta’ Qali for the construction of a motorsport park will certainly not interfere with the ASMK facility.

On Sunday, Agius confirmed to reporters that the site for the motorsport park will be at Ta’ Qali, but the facilities of ASMK and other sporting associations will remain intact.

Agius added that in this context, he was surprised that ASMK felt it right to issue their statement especially after he had discussed the matter with the secretary of the association over a phone call.
