Casa coy on preferred choice for PN Leader

- Julian Bonnici

MEP David Casa would not tell The Malta Independent who he would like to see as the Nationalist Party Leader, after revealing that he is interested in contesting for the post of PN Secretary General.

Casa announced that he wanted to contest as General Secretary for the Nationalist Party in comments given to The Times of Malta.

However, he maintained that he would wait until a new Party Leader is elected to confirm his decision.

Pressed by this newsroom as to who he would select, Casa remained coy and insisted that it was the executive committee’s choice, and that no candidates have emerged.

He also maintained that there was no need to make this call now, as according to current PN Leader Simon Busuttil, a new leader could be selected as late as September.

Asked what kind of party leader he wanted to see, Casa said that he did not want to influence any decisions of the party executive.
