Tickets for the game Malta vs England sold out in just 10 days
●MFA to give over 2,000 free tickets to nurseries and philanthropic organisations
All the tickets in the sectors allocated to Maltese fans for the FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifier against England at the National Stadium have been sold.
The last few seats were snapped up by Maltese fans on Wednesday evening, only 10 days after the tickets for this eagerly-awaited game on September 1 went on sale.
“The Malta Football Association notes with satisfaction that all the tickets allocated to local supporters for the Malta-England match on September 1 have been sold,” Dr Angelo Chetcuti, the MFA General Secretary said.
“Planning for the Malta-England match began several months ago as a game of this scale poses a logistical challenge for the Malta FA but thanks to the efforts and dedication of all those involved, the preparations are on track. This also applies to the ticketing process which is progressing very smoothly.
“While the MFA thanks all the fans who have purchased tickets for the upcoming MaltaEngland match, we urge local supporters toget behind our national team for what promises to be a special occasion.”
The Malta FA also offers complimentary tickets to children enrolled in local football nurseries as part of its Football Social Responsibility initiatives.
“Over 1,900 children from local football nurseries will receive free tickets for the MaltaEngland match and this amounts to just over 11 per cent of the entire stadium capacity,” Dr Chetcuti said.
“The fact that so many young, aspiring footballers will enter the stadium free of charge for such an enticing game as Malta vs England is testament to the Malta FA’s commitment towards its Football For Life programme.”
The Malta FA will also be giving out around 250 complimentary tickets for the Malta-England match to philanthrophic organisations while a number of accessible areas will be made available to disabled fans.
South Stand tickets for children aged 12 years and under cost half the original price. It is estimated that five per cent of the tickets sold in this sectorhave been taken up by children. According to latest update from the English FA, more than 3,700 tickets in North Stand have been sold. The North Stand, which has been allocated to English supporters, has 4,039 seats while the total capacity of the National Stadium is 16,997.
