Jet2 nosedives, plunges towards sea, passengers text loved ones

-

An aircraft of the Jet2 airline abruptly plunged towards the sea after nose-diving sharply amidst a screeching alarm when the pilot warned the passengers that they would be required to be ready for an ‘emergency descent’.

Immediately, some terror-struck passengers started texting their loved ones, informing them of their seemingly impending doom.

Nicola Tye, one of the passengers, filmed the horror after oxygen masks descended from the plane’s ceiling as the plane was moving to Leeds from Ibiza. The aircraft was carrying 180 people when it plunged towards the sea.

One of the passengers texted her husband a ‘final I love you’ text, letting him know about the probable mishap.

The woman, aged about 39, told her husband over a text message that she loved him and she thought that this would be her last message to him. She was scared since she was not with her husband and two children and the very thought of not seeing them again made her shudder.

The plane was 30 minutes into the flight, coming back from Ibiza when the horror struck.

Another passenger, John Hatfield, has slammed the airline, protesting that his oxygen mask did not drop at the appropriate time when the plane was plummeting towards the sea.

He complained that his girlfriend was upset and started weeping since their oxygen masks failed to drop from the ceiling unlike the ones on the other rows.

He added that the flight attendants had already sat down with their oxygen masks on so they did not respond when Hatfield pressed the button to draw their attention.

The plane managed to level out after it had returned to a safe altitude. Thereafter, it had to be diverted to Barcelona airport.

Four hours later, the passengers were transported back to Leeds on an alternative plane. However, many of the passengers were too shocked to board the aircraft. Jet2 blamed the incident on a ‘minor technical issue’.
