Kirkop make sure in first half

In a game that never reached any heights, Kirkop were the better outfit as they created more actions than Pembroke.

In Kirkop’s first action Jake Buhagiar released David Callus on the right flank and after advancing, Pembroke keeper Alexander Debono neutralised the ball from his dangerous cross.

In their next attack in the 7th minute they opened the score. Quelin Micallef served Callus on the right flank and after entering the area, Debono partly saved his shot and Gilmour Cutajar was on hand to net from the rebound with a hard low drive.

In another Kirkop action, Miguel Calleja dribbled past an opponent on the left flank who then served Ezekjel Farrugia in the area and Debono saved his shot in two attempts

In Pembroke’s only action in the first period after 18 minutes Abdul Abdugil dribbled past an opponent outside the area but Kirkop keeper Giancarlo Borg dived and saved his shot.

Kirkop kept pressing. Ezekjel Farrugia pounced on a faulty goal kick and released Callus in the area but the ball missed the upright from his shot with Debono beaten.

Just before the half time whistle they doubled their lead. After a good run down the right flank, Neil Farrugia served Cutajar in the area who scored with a hard drive in-off the base uf the upright.

Kirkop were in control of the proceedings on the changeover and created all the actions until the final whistle. Ezekjel Farrugia was fouled on the right edge of the area and the ball was cleared away from the free kick by Quelin Micallef.

Callus was fouled on the right edge of the area and following the free kick by Micallef, the ball was cleared off the line from a shot by Jake Buhagiar.
