Mbappe scores first goal for France in 4-0 win over Netherlands Ronaldo, Lukaku and Meunier score hat-tricks
Cristiano Ronaldo confirmed he is also his national team’s leader (if there was any need) yesterday as Portugal overcame Faroe Islands 4-1 to maintain their challenge to Group leaders Switzerland for direct qualification.
Ronaldo struck in the third minute, in the 29th from a penalty and again on 65 minutes. Carvaldho scored the other goal on 58 minutes. Baldvinsson had scored for Faroe Islands in the 38th minute to make it 2-1 at that juncture.
In the same Group, Switzerland found some stiff resistance from Andorra before taking all the three points with a 2-0 win from their home match.
Seferovic was their hero scoring the two goals on 43 and 62 minutes. Liechsteiner scored the third in the 67th minute.
Switzerland remain three points ahead of second placed Portugal.
Another players who scored a hat-trick yesterday was Belgium’s Lukaku and Meunier as the home side crushed minnows Gibraltar 9-0.
Man United’s striker Lukaku scored on 21, 38 and and 84th minute penalty, while Neunier scored his three on 18, 61 and 67 minutes.
One of the best victories of the night was France’s crushing 4-0 win over the Netherlands. The French led 1-0 at the interval thanks to a Griezmann goal on 14 minutes.
In the second half, the French dominated was turned into goals through efforts from Lemar (73 and 88) and the final fourth goal by up and coming young star Mbappe in the 90th minute.
