Kappara flyover now open to traffic in both directions

-

Transport Malta yesterday announced that the second Kappara flyover is now open to traffic

Vehicles heading towards Paceville started using the newly completed west bridge as of yesterday morning. Both carriageways of the Kappara flyovers, northbound and southbound are now open to traffic. Southbound vehicles have another two lanes available, before the commencement of the new academic year and the surge in traffic.

Vehicles coming from Paceville are now using the east bridge, which up till Saturday was used by traffic heading in the opposite direction. Thus vehicles coming from the Paceville area can now proceed over the flyover to keep going straight towards Valletta, while vehicles going towards Gżira can use the carriageway below the flyover and turn towards Sliema Road.

Works continue on the San Ġwann side of the project, where personnel are forming the new roundabout, building boundary walls and widening the road. The project is expected to be completed, on schedule, by the end of the year.

James Piscopo, the chairman of Transport Malta said: “We are delighted to deliver the critical part of this project ahead of schedule, in time for the busiest part of the year, the start of the new academic year.”

Anti-skid material on Triq Burmarrad

Transport Malta will be placing anti-skid material in Triq Burmarrad, Mosta, to increase road grip and hence improve road safety. The material helps vehicles when braking and turning.

Work will start today at 9am and will stop at 4pm, continuing over three consecutive days. While the works are ongoing, vehicles coming from the direction of Mosta towards Burmarrad will go through T’Alla u Ommu Hill. Vehicles coming from the opposite direction will not be affected.
