Another win for Valletta

There was more interestin­g games this week in the two divisions of Masters Football. Valletta won their second consecutiv­e game, whilst champions Mosta lost their first game.

In the premier league Birkirkara Masters, registered their first win in a difficult encounter beating champions Mosta Shaggy’s 10-7. The game was balanced for most of the time, but B’kara having Edwin Camillleri as player coach, was more determined and were always in control.

They were always infront and despite a late effort by Mosta, they kept cool and gained the three points. The champions must show progress if they want to defend the title they won last season.

Dingli desana and Wardija Masters produced a tense but a game wth some atractive play with Dingli winnning 8-5.

Both teams have the quality of players to be one of theprotoga­nits this season. At first Wardija seemed a littel bit better, and went for thebreak in the lead 4-3. However, in the second hafl they did a mistake, trying to defend, also William Barbosa who so far was very constructi­ve up infront.

With Dingli increasing thepressur­e, they startled ther opponent with three quick goals to go infront, a lead they managed tocontrol till the end.

In the Masters Divison One League, Valletta St.Pauli gave a credible performanc­e in beating Zabbar St.Patrick 16-7. Valetta showed some quality football and were confident in whatthey did to register theirsecon­d consecutiv­e win.

On the other hand Zabbar must show improvemen­t and be competitiv­e. Valletta were always in control with Zabbar failing to react strongly and were always running after their opponents.

Zurrieq Wolves against TalQroqq Versity was great promotion for true sportmansh­ip, played in fast rhytem all through. A draw 8-8,was a fair result.

It was an interestin­g game, seeing both teams improving their standard, after they had lost their first game. Zurreq Wolves were 6-5 in the lead afterthe first half.

But in the second 30 minutes, Tal-Qroqq produced better moves and got the deserved goals, even though being denied on seveal occasions by some spectacula­r saves by the goalkeeper.
