William Chetcuti wins the Darleen Trophy Trap event

William Chetcuti won his first Trap competitio­n after just a few weeks of practicing this discipline, now that the Double Trap which brought Chetcuti so much success both locally and internatio­nally, will not be included in the ISSF and the MSSF calendars as from 2018.

On a morning characteri­sed by very strong winds, overcast sky and heavy rain, Chetcuti, under the supervisio­n of Coach Jimmy Bugeja, showed that he is a born winner when he qualified for the final stages and made it right to the top spot of the podium as the weather conditions changed from a stormy morning to a pleasant afternoon.

Brian Galea, who ranked in first place in the qualificat­ion rounds, joined Chetcuti on the podium in second place together with Stephen Vella who finished third. The Finals results were: 1st William Chetcuti 22/25 + 5/5 + 5/5 + 3/5 + 7/10, total score 42/50

2nd Brian Galea 19/25 + 4/5 + 5/5 + 5/5 + 8/10, total score 41/50

3rd Stephen Vella 19/25 + 5/5 + 4/5 + 4/5, total score 32/40

4th Nicky Carabott 19/25 + 5/5 + 4/5, total score 28/35

5th Frank Scorfna 20/25 + 3/5, total score 23/30

6th John Marmara 17/25, total score 17/25

The top Shooters in their respective classes concluded their qualificat­ion rounds with the following scores. Class A 1st Brian Galea 46/50 2nd Stephen Vella 40/50 3rd William Chetcuti 40/50 Class B 1st Emmanuel Saliba 38/50 2nd Charlie Demanuele 37/50 3rd Raymond Micallef 35/50 Class C 1st John Marmara 38/50 2nd Carmel Grech 34/50 3rd Mario Gauci 33/50 The MSSF Trap Programme will continue on Sunday, 01 October 2017 at the Southern Shooting Club with the Franwin Trophy.
