Fgura and Santa Lucia march on with comfortabl­e wins

Kalkara registered their second win on the trot when they beat Marsaxlokk through a solitary goal scored by Timmy Thomas on 37 minutes.

St Lucia continued their fine run and rose to the top of the table when they defeated Swieqi United by three goals to one in the first match at the Sirens Stadium. Sebastian Perdomo gave St Lucia the lead after 39 minutes with Nicky Schembri equalising for Swieqi on 43 minutes.

The Saints secured the points with two goals from Paolo Dandolo on 70 minutes and Perdomo on 76 minutes.

Birzebbugi­a St Peters beat Attard by four goals to three in a see saw game in the second match at the Luxol Stadium.

Lesley Cassar Jackson opened the scoring on 25 minutes followed by Ronnie Celeste on 34 minutes and Didier Sohna on 38 minutes.

Attard however came back with goals from FirazAboul­ezz and Kurt Zahra on 50, 74 and 76 minutes but Ronnie Celeste scored the winner for Birzebbugi­a on 86 minutes.

The match between Siggiewi and St George’s had to be abandoned after 45 minutes when Josef Dalli hit referee Shaun Calleja with a punch after having been sent off.

Taio Grozev gave Siggiewi the lead after just three minutes with Josef Dalli equalising from the penalty spot after half an hour.

Mgarr United registered their first win of the season when they beat Gudja United by a solitary goal scored by Kenneth Aquilina in the 90th minute.

Fgura United confirmed their position as sole leaders when they thrashed Gharghur by four goals to nil in the second match at the Luxol Stadium.

The goals came from: Cleavon Frendo on 43’, Abeeb Williams on 60’, Gilbert Martin on 75’, and a Ryan Sell penalty on 82’.
