John Marmara wins Franwin Trophy

John Marmara won the Franwin Trap competitio­n at the Southern Shooting Club, in an event that was organised on two qualificat­ion rounds of 25 clay targets each.

Marmara did not have to wait for long to step on the highest place of the podium, as he already finished twice in third place and once in second place overall since he started competing again after a long break from Trap shooting.

Frank Scorfna joined John Marmara on the podium as he finished in second place overall while George Cassar finished in position number three.

The six finalists and their qualificat­ion scores were; Stephen Vella 45/50, Paul Formosa 44/50, Frank Scorfna 43/50, Nicky Carabott 41/50, John Marmara 40/50 and George Cassar 39/50. The finals overall results were; 1st John Marmara 19/25 + 5/5 + 3/5 + 4/5 + 8/10, total score 39/50

2nd Frank Scorfna 19/25 + 3/5 + 3/5 + 4/5 + 8/10, total score 37/50

3rd George Cassar 20/25 + 3/5 + 2/5 + 3/5, total score 28/40

4th Stephen Vella 16/25 + 5/5 + 3/5, total score 24/35

5th Paul Formosa 16/25 + 3/5, total score 19/30

6th Nicky Carabott 16/25, total score 16/25

The top shooters in their respective classes concluded their two qualificat­ion rounds with the following scores:

Class A

1st Stephen Vella 45/50 2nd Paul Formosa 44/50 3rd Frank Scorfna 43/50

Class B

1st George Cassar 39/50 2nd Angelo Ciappara 38/50 3rd Vince Cassar 37/50

Class C

1st John Marmara 40/50 2nd Nicholas Schembri 34/50 3rd Stefan Borg 30/50

The MSSF Trap programme will continue on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 October at the Bidnija Shooting Ranges with the competitio­n for the Marfel Trophy. The start time of the competitio­n on Saturday is at noon while on Sunday shooting starts 10am.
