Zabbar 0 Valletta 3

Valletta won the Group on maximum points from four games and will compete in Section A this season while Żabbar finished in second place and will compete in Section B. The Citizens proved to be too strong for Żabbar who only managed two shots at goal during the game which came from free kicks.

The early pressure came from Valletta. Kenley Scerri served Gian Leon Cassar with a square pass and he drove slightly over the bar from the edge of the area. Scerri served Kurt Desira with a square pass who had his shot blocked on the edge of the area. Cassar entered the area after a run down the right flank and from his low drive the ball hit the base of the far upright with Żabbar keeper Aidan Portelli Isherwood beaten - the ball ended in his waiting hands.

In the 20th minute Valletta opened the score after a good move between three players. Jeremy Azzopardi released Desira on the right flank who crossed to Cassar in the area and scored with a low shot.

In the first action by Żabbar in the 26th minute Matthew Cutajar was fouled outside the area but from the same player’s free kick the ball was cleared to a corner. The last action before the break was created by Żabbar as Andre’ Camilleri was fouled outside the area but Valletta keeper Brian Schiavone saved the free kick by Cutajar.

Three minutes after the restart, Valletta were denied by the woodwork when Thomas Giles released substitute Lyon Camilleri in the area but the ball hit the base of the upright following his low drive and finished out.

In their next attack they doubled the score. Cassar dribbled past an opponent on the left edge of the area and served Giles with a cross and scored with a hard low drive.

Six minutes before the end Valletta scored a third goal. Giles served substitute Ryan Tonna with a through ball who returned the compliment to Cassar in the area who scored with a low drive from close range.
