Maltese players participate in a tournament in Italy
Last weekend, the FISTF Major of Italy was organised in San Benedetto del Tronto. Maltese players and Valletta Subbuteo club were present for this event.
On Saturday the individual categories were played. In the Open Category Malta was represented by Angelo Borg, Derek Conti, Massimo Cremona and Rodrick Vassallo. They all passed the group and advanced.
Angelo Borg was eliminated in the last 16 losing 3-2 against Luca Battista. Derek Conti was eliminated in the quarter-final 2-1 against Luca Battista. Massimo Cremona was eliminated in the last 16 against Andrea di Vincenzo 2-1, while Rodrick Vassallo lost in the Barrage against Luigi Di Vito 2-1. The Italian Luca Colangelo won this category.
In the Veteran category Malta was represented by Mario Camilleri and Jason Pisani. They both passed the group and advanced. Mario Camilleri made it to the semi-final, but he lost 1-0 against Raffaele Allocca after sudden death (extra time). Jason Pisani lost in the quarter final 1-0 against Carlo Alessi, as the same Carlo Alessi won this category.
The teams category was played on Sunday and Malta was represented by Valletta Subbuteo Club. The formation of the team was composed Derek Conti, Mario Camilleri, Rodrick Vassallo and the Belgian player Pascal Scheen. They passed first in the group, but they were eliminated in the quarter final against Napoli fighters 2-1. Angelo Borg, Massimo Cremona u Jason Pisani were playing with their Italian teams. FiammeAzzurre Roma won the Team Category.
