No goals in drab affair

Zebbug Rangers and Pembroke figured in a drab scoreless draw yesterday, a result that was not enough for Pembroke to move off the zero mark as they are now still with -1 after starting with a 10-point deficit.

The game had a very slow start with both sides locked in a midfield battle and with both defences always coming on top.

The first real danger came on 26 minutes when Warren Chircop passed towards Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza whose low shot was blocked by Farrugia.

On the half hour the Pembroke custodian made a great save off a Kovacic majestic freekick. Zebbug held a slight superiority in the second part of the first and finished on the offensive but they never tested goalkeeper Gerada again.

On the hour a Kovacic freekick sailed over the bar, with Pembroke’s best chance coming on 75 minutes when Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza’s shot was cleared off the goal line by Gusman.
