New tallinja child card launched
Malta Public Transport this week launched a new design for the tallinja child card during the award ceremony for the Tallinja Drawing Competition held at St. Benedict College in Żurrieq, and compered by the comedy duo Danusan.
The new card features Anthea Mamo’s winning drawing, which was chosen out of over 400 entries from school children in Malta and Gozo aged between 5 and 10. Anthea Mamo exclaimed that she was very happy that her drawing was to feature on the new tallinja child card, as her parents looked on proudly.
Apart from having her winning design printed on the tallinja child card, Anthea also won some fantastic prizes, including a year of free travel on the bus, an art set, a Maxi Micro Scooter as well as a 3D Printer for the school in which she attends.
“It was a pleasure for our school to host such an interesting event during which students were rewarded for their artistic abilities,” said Paul Sammut, St. Benedict College’s headmaster.
Two runner up prizes were also awarded to Faye Galea from St. Dorothy’s Junior School in Żebbug and Kirsten Azzopardi from St. Joseph School in Blata l-Bajda. Both these children won a Maxi Micro Scooter and a 3D Printer for their school.
“We thank all the children who participated in this competition,” continued Daniel Grech, Malta Public Transport’s Commercial Director, adding that the company was overwhelmed by the large number of students who participated in this drawing competition and also thanked the schools for their collaboration.
Malta Public Transport also announced the Road Safety Trip campaign, during which school children will have the opportunity to travel on board a bus and participate in an interactive presentation on road safety. As part of the company’s endeavour to promote the use of public transport, Malta Public Transport will also be offering free new tallinja child cards to the first 3000 primary school students, who participate in the Road Safety Trip and apply for the new Tallinja card through their school.
