Last Sunday a special Enduro event was held at Ta’ Qali Sports Complex in collaboration with Wotomoto Ltd. This event will launch the Enduro Championship this year and years to come too. This special event was supported by the firms Go&Fun Energy Drink and Beta Motorcycles in Malta.

The purpose of this activity is to continue to grow the sport of Enduro Motorcycles and introducing new technology bikes in the sport of Enduro riding. The competition consisted of a special Enduro biking track which was constructed by the ASMK Officials at Ta’ Qali Sports Complex.

The day’s competitors race on this track and the winner of this competition, covering the track in the fastest time, wins a brand new Beta motorcycle supplied by WotoMoto Company. The lucky winner will be racing all the Enduro competitions in the coming year on the brand new Beta racer sponsored by the firm WotoMoto.

Meanwhile 20 riders have registered for this race in this competition. Each rider was given three chances to drive along the Enduro track and obviously they had the chance to improve their lap time during these heats. Meanwhile, the first heat of the day was won by Gary Debono as the fastest rider on his Sherco motorcycle. Gary was followed by James Zahra on a Sherco motorcycle and Carmelo Borg on a KTM motorcycle.

During the 2nd heat, the situation changed as Zahra improved on his first time and finished leader to Debono and Borg respectively.

In the 3rd and final heat, where each rider was expected to run quicker, the scoreboard showed that young Bernard Sammut, on his Husqvarna motorcycle, made it to the top by registering the Overall Best Time of the day.

The new Electronic Lap Timing system registered the best run of Sammut with 2 minutes 33.500 seconds. Zahra finished in 2nd overall with a best time of 2 minutes 36.569 seconds whilst third place finisher Joseph Scicluna, on a KTM, registered his best lap in 2 minutes 41.502 seconds.

Following the official results, the WotoMoto Ltd. Manager Neil Falzon presented the new Beta RR motorcycle ‘2T 250RC’ to Bernard Sammut.

Sammut will be competing on this Beta during the New national Enduro championship this season which is expected to commence on 12 November - the first race is to be held at Qrendi.
