George Mifsud wins Steve Azzopardi mini GP Trap challenge

George Mifsud won the Steve Azzopardi Mini Grand Prix Trap Challenge at the Qormi Clay Shooting Club.

This event was organised on two qualificat­ion rounds of 25 clay targets each, where the six highest ranked shooters advanced to the final stages from a single shot.

Mifsud was on top form this Sunday as he finished his qualificat­ion rounds with a satisfacto­ry score of 47/50 and also led all the way in all the five stages at of the final.

Joining Mifsud on the podium were Frank Scorfna who finished in second place and George Cassar, who finished in third place overall. The finals results were: 1st George Mifsud 20/25 + 4/5 + 4/5 +4/5 + 6/10, total score 38/50

2nd Frank Scorfna 19/25 + 4/5 + 3/5 + 1/5 + 6/10, total score 33/50

3rd George Cassar 18/25 + 3/5 + 3/5 + 1/5, total score 25/40

4th Nicky Carabott 16/25 + 4/5 + 3/5, total score 23/35

5th John Marmara 16/25 + 2/5, total score 18/30

6th Rudolph Zammit 14/25, total score 14/25

The top three shooters in their respective classes concluded their two qualificat­ion rounds with the following scores:

1st George Mifsud 2nd Frank Scorfna 3rd Nicky Carabott

Class B

1st Jean Pierre Mifsud 2nd George Cassar 3rd Peter Muscat

Class C

1st John Marmara 2nd Romeo Cassar 3rd Carmel Grech

The MSSF Shotgun Trap programme will continue next Sunday at the Bidnija Ranges with the Donald Bugeja Memorial.
