Chance for Gzira to move back to the top

- Hibernians Stadium: Centenary Stadium: National Stadium:

Gżira United have what seems to be a good chance to move back to the top (temporarily) of the Premier League standings this evening when they face third from bottom Naxxar Lions.

It is the only match of the 11th round being played today – the other six matches are being played between tomorrow and Sunday.

The Maroons have allowed Valletta to take over the leadership after having been forced to two successive draws by Senglea and Mosta respectively.

Gżira will now be facing Naxxar Lions and a victory will shoot them on to the 24-point mark, one ahead over Valletta who will be facing Ħamrun Spartans next Sunday.

The Maroons should be considered favourites to beat Naxxar Lions, but having lost four points in the last two matches, they first have to find confidence in their abilities once again.

On their part, the Lions will certainly not be throwing in the towel so easily.

After having beaten St Andrews 3-1 for their only win so far, the Lions lost matches against Floriana and Ħamrun.

They are also aware that they have no easy task against the Maroons. But judging from the encouraging performances against the Greens and the Spartans, they hope to be luckier this time round.

The Lions, like St Andrews, have six points from 10 matches, just two points above bottom placed Lija Athletic.
