New national short course and age group swimming records

On the 24th November 2017, during the first day of the Speedo SC Internatio­nal Meet held in Dubai, Francesca Falzon Young broke the National Short Course Record for 50m Backstroke with a time of 00:30,10. The previous record of 00:30,35 was achieved by Mya Azzopardi in Zagreb on the 11th November 2017.

During the second day of the Speedo SC Internatio­nal Meet held in Dubai on 25th November 2017, Francesca broke the National Short Course Record for 200m Freestyle with a time of 02:06,56. The previous record of 02:07,77 was also held by Francesca and achieved in Beauvais in July 2016.

On the same day, Francesca broke the National Short Course Record for 50m Fly twice, first in the Preliminar­ies with a time of 00:29,37 and later in the afternoon improved the record yet again during the Finals with a time of 00:28,91. The previous record of 00:29,38 was held by Nikki Muscat since December 2015 and had been achieved in Israel.

Finally, Francesca broke the National Short Course Record for 100m Freestyle with a time of 00:57,35. The previous record of 00:57,99 was held by Nikki Muscat and achieved in Doha in December 2014.

During the 2nd Age Group Meet held on the 25th November 2017, Alexandra McGonigle broke the Age Group D Record for the 50m Breaststro­ke with a time of 34,39. The previous Age Group D record of 35,08 belonged to Pia Grech and was achieved in November 2013 also in Malta.

During the same meet, Andrea Mallia broke the Age Group C Record for the 100m Breaststro­ke with a time of 01:10,35. The previous Age Group C record of 01:10,52 also belonged to Andrea and was achieved in July 2017 in Gyor.
