Third Luxol victory over Siggiewi

Siggiewi 58 Luxol 84 (16-21, 17-24, 10-13, 15-26)

Luxol obtained their third seasonal victory over Siggiewi in three different competitions as they became the fourth side to progress to the semis in this K.O.

They withstood Siggiewi’s efforts and won all four sessions of play to ease away as the match was underway and end up comfortable winners.

They had a match winner in Vukassin Jandric as he celebrated his Player of the Month award.

Siggiewi recovered Joshua Anastasi but had JP Antoncic and Lee Grech missing. Luxol had Keith Dimech back in the side but the Spaniard Merlin Blazquez was not in the side.

Luxol’s opening points found a good reply from Siggiewi who made up an 8-2 run. Luxol then embarked on a 15-2 run with a Jandric trey and Dimech points. Siggiewi recovered till the end of the session but were still in arrears.

In the second period, Siggiewi kept up their momentum to go past their opponents but Luxol took little time to put in another hot 17-0 run with Clayton Calleja points. Siggiewi had Hubert Agius and Gabriel Agius to bolster their score but Jandric was reacting for Luxol at the other end and he finished with his second trey as the Violets were 45-33 ahead at the interval.

After the break, Siggiewi began with a 7-2 run getting closer but Luxol stopped them as they made up a 9-2 run with another Jandric triple. Both sides put in points till the end of the session with Luxol leading 58-43.

In the last quarter, Luxol put in an early 8-0 run with a Dimech trey and Michael Sjoberg hoops. Siggiewi tried to hold them off but Luxol came up with another 8-0 run and another Dimech triple.

Play was shared for the remainder of the match with Jandric sinking his fourth trey as Luxol cantered through to claim their semi final slot.
