Tournament nearing its end

-

The Zmerc Christmas tournament is now nearing its end with only the semis and the final still to be played.

Unfortunately in the last games, teams were not at their best with several regular players missing for various reasons, mostly working or injured.

Masters Football recognise the medical problem and is trying its best on which way and how it can help now that also the MFA is ready to assist financially.

In the quarter finals, Targa Gap, only in its first season in Masters Foooball, qualified for the semis after beating Zurrieq Wolves 9-5.

They merited their win and had Stephen Pace at his best scoring four. Team captain Adrian Gatt was also impressive. The team almost made sure in the first half going for the break 6-1 in the lead.

Zurrieq Wolves had several regular players missing, amongst them their best scorer Alistair Camilleri. In the first half they were disorganised but improved in the second half, although there was never any doubt about who was going to win.

B’Kara Masters also moved on to the semi final after beating Dingli Desana 12-9.

Several players from both teams were missing, including Carlo Mamo, Charlo Magro, William Camenzuli, Simon Shead and others.

Going for the break, B’Kara took a lead of 6-5 and by the last ten minutes they were in front 12-6. It was clear that Desana were not going to make it, although they kept trying. Mark Deguara had a good game for B’kara and deserved to be voted as the ‘man of he match’.
