Good results for Maltese swimmers at European short course championships
One of the most important events in the Swimming Calendar for the ASA of Malta is the participation in the LEN European Short Course Swimming Championships which this year were held in Copenhagen, Denmark between 13 and 17 December.
The following swimmers were led by President Joe Caruana Curran and National Swimming Coach Artem Goncharenko.
Mya Azzopardi, Michael Stafrace, Francesca Falzon Young, Mikhail Umnov, Matthew Galea and Matthew Zammit.
The competition format featured heats in the morning and finals in the afternoons and was held under FINA Technical Rules. Top European swimmers were present for this competition which gave a great exposure to the Maltese swimmers.
The venue for the competition was a temporary swimming pool which has been installed at the iconic and brand new Royal Arena which can host up to 16,000 spectators at a concert setting. The following events were held: 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m (Women), 1,500m (Men) Freestyle
