Service Dogs Malta Foundation – Trainers Identity Tags

-

Malta Public Transport is proud to collaborate with the Service Dogs Malta Foundation by providing the latter with identity tags for their trainers. These tags will allow trainers to travel whilst on duty for free on board buses operated by Malta Public Transport.

Malta Public Transport strives to cater for the travel-related needs of the different members of the public. Thanks to this initiative, the company shall support the Service Dogs Malta Foundation’s mission in helping persons who are hearing impaired, autistic, wheelchair bound or diabetic to become daily commuters.

Joanne Cremona, Public Relations Officer of the Service Dogs Malta Foundation, stated: “We would like to thank Malta Public Transport for this invaluable gesture of recognition and support of the work we do on behalf of the families who will ultimately benefit from the service that these dogs provide. It is imperative that service dogs-in-training are exposed to as many environments as possible so that once they qualify as service dogs and are matched with a client, they can be relied on to accompany their handlers anywhere they wish to go without incident. Riding on buses is an integral part of this training and being issued with these tags makes it much easier for the dogs' handlers to carry on with their work”.

“Malta Public Transport is aware of the great help that service dogs can provide to individuals with particular needs. These trained companions increase the level of independence whilst also enhancing social interaction”, added Malta Public Transport’s Commercial Director, Daniel Grech. As with other collaborations that took place throughout 2017, these identity tags are a clear indication that Malta Public Transport is committed in helping different organizations that share the company’s vision of having a public service that is accessible to everyone.
