Peter Muscat wins Grazio Vella & Bros trap trophy

Veteran Peter Muscat claimed the Grazio Vella & Bros Trap Trophy at the Qormi Clay Shooting Club.

This event was organised on two rounds of 25 clay targets each, where the six highest ranked athletes in the qualificat­ion rounds advanced to the final of another five knock out stages from a single shot starting from zero.

Peter Muscat was on top form this Sunday as he had the best qualificat­ion score and earned Bib No 1 to win in the final stages.

Joining Muscat on the podium were Joe Xuereb and John Marmara as they placed in second and third floor overall.

This Sunday’s final stage results were:

1st Peter Muscat 21/25 + 4/5 + 3/5 + 4/5 + 6/10, total score 38/50

2nd Joe Xuereb 19/25 + 4/5 + 2/5 + 3/5 + 7/10, total score 35/50

3rd John Marmara 17/25 + 4/5 + 3/5 + 4/5, total score 28/40

4th Emmanuel Zammit 17/25 + 3/5 + 3/5, total score 23/35

5th Christophe­r Farrugia 18/25 + 2/5, total score 20/30

6th Rudolph Zammit 13/25, total score 13/25

The top three shooters in their respective classes concluded their two qualificat­ion rounds with the following scores:

Class A

1st Joe Xuereb 42/50 2nd Emmanuel Zammit 41/50 3rd Sean Rizzo 40/50

Class B

1st Peter Muscat 43/50 2nd John Marmara 42/50 3rd Rudolph Zammit 41/50

Class C

1st Christophe­r Farrugia 41/50 2nd George Polidano 40/50 3rd Reno Gatt 36/50

The MSSF Shotgun Trap programme will continue on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 January at the Bidnija Ranges with the second selection shoot for the ISSF World Cup being held in Changwon, Korea. It will be the first out of four selection shoots for the first-ever ISSF World Cup to be held in Malta at the new Ta’ Kandja Shooting Complex in Siggiewi.

MARCELLO ATTARD WINS BONELLO BROS SKEET SELECTION

Marcello Attard was the overall winner of The Bonello Brothers Skeet Selection organized by The Malta Shooting Sport Federation at Bidnija this weekend.

This event was on 125 clays skeet with the best six to qualify for the final stages.

Marcello Attard placed 1st with 110/125 - 18-25-33-42-52 Bozidar Dimitrov placed 2nd with 110/125 - 17-26-32-41-49 Marlon Attard placed 3rd with 108/125 15-23-32-40 Joe Muscat placed 4th with 108/125 - 16-2330 Jason Sciberras placed 5th with 108/125 - 15-20.

Noel Scicluna placed 6th with 108/125 - 13

Class A

Class B
