Zebbug R 2 Rabat A 0

Zebbug registered their fourth victory on the trot to join Pieta in third place on the 30 point mark.

It was a relatively easy victory for Zebbug over a demoralised Rabat side. Obaje Smith was Zebbug’s hero scoring the goals that mattered, one in each half.

Zebbug immediately took full control of the proceedings and took the lead on 17 minutes when Aud-Gustine Obaje headed home a Miguel Ciantar corner. Two minutes later ex-striker Ryan Micallef tried his luck from the edge of the area but his effort went over the bar.

On 27 minutes from another corner action, Gusman’s first timer went slightly over the bar. Minutes later Rabat had their first opportunity with Wayne Borg’s shot just missing the crossbar. On the other end Obaje almpost doubled the score with a free header but Zammit blokced his point blank effort.

In the second half, Zebbug continued to dictate but they failed to kill off the match with a second goal. This goal arrived on 67 minutes when substitute Leighton Grech passed towards Obaje who slotted home from close range.

Ten minutes from time Rabat almost pulled one back but Zebbug goalkeeper Farrugia saved Wayne Borg’s dangerous freekick.
