San Ġwann win match thanks to two spot kicks

Jake Pisani partly saved his hard drive and the ball was cleared away by a defender.

In a San Ġwann action Xuereb was fouled outside the area: from Attard’s free kick the ball was cleared away with difficulty and in the last action before the break Mosta won a corner kick on the left flank which was well-taken by Gabriel Sant and Pisani was forced to fist the ball away to safety.

Mosta created the first action after the restart as Luke Portanier served substitute Gianluca Sciberras with a square pass on the edge of the area and Pisani saved his shot.

Two actions were then mounted by San Ġwann. A flag kick by Attard was cleared away with difficulty and after a flag kick by the same player, the ball thumped the bar from a header by Ryan Xuereb with Mosta keeper Dylan Ciappara beaten.

In the 56th minute, Ġwann opened the score.

Cody Grech released Matthew Xuereb in the area and after he was tripped by D. Mifsud, the referee pointed to San the spot and Attard made no mistake with a hard drive.

Four minutes later Mosta equalised as Borg served Matteo Vella with a through ball in the area and he scored with a header.

In the 66th minute, San Ġwann scored a second goal.

After a flag kick by Attard a Mosta defender handled the ball in the area, Attard took charge of the spot kick and after Ciappara partly saved his hard drive, Matthew Xuereb drilled the ball in the net with a hard drive from the rebound.

Mosta then created the last action before the end when Sciberras was fouled outside the area and from the same player’s free kick the ball was easily cleared away to safety.
