BOV inaugurates new representative office in London
Prime Minster Joseph Muscat yesterday inaugurated Bank of Valletta’s representative office in London. He was accompanied by the bank’s chairman, Deo Scerri, chief executive officer, Mario Mallia, and Kenneth Farrugia, chief business development officer, in the presence of distinguished guests including High Commissioner Norman Hamilton.
Prime Minister Muscat congratulated Bank of Valletta on the important step. “The opening of this Bank of Valletta office in London shows how much the Maltese economy and its banking system have evolved in recent years. We have become increasingly outward-focused, adopting a more proactive approach in seeking foreign direct investment and strengthening our international reach.”
In his brief speech, Deo Scerri expressed his satisfaction that “Bank of Valletta now has a physical presence in London, the cosmopolitan hub of financial services.” Scerri explained: “Our presence in London is driven by the bank’s corporate strategy which sees this office as an important link in our existing network of representative offices which make Bank of Valletta accessible to a wider customer base.
The opening of this new office underscores the bank’s interest in the UK market which is important for Malta within a European regional context.
Dipak Chouhan will be responsible for the running of this office located at 1, Berkeley Street, London.
