BirdLife Malta’s Walk for Nature raises €700 for environmental education resources

-

BirdLife Malta’s annual sponsored Walk for Nature has raised over €700 thanks to the support of around 100 participants, mostly families and children, who took part in the walk on Sunday. The funds raised will be invested in exciting new environmental educational resources that will help to connect more people with nature, including cameras to live stream wildlife activity at the NGO’s nature reserves, Birdlife Malta said.

The scenic trek from Mdina to Simar Nature Reserve was also joined by local nature experts who helped identify different wildlife homes and share all there is to know about the fascinating habitats along the way.

At the end of the walk, children were gifted with goody bags and enjoyed a prize-giving ceremony for those who had raised the highest donations, with first place taking home a copy of ‘The Natural History of the Maltese Islands’ kindly donated by Book Distributors Limited (BDL).

BirdLife Malta education manager Sarah Brady stated: “We were delighted to see so many children and families out this weekend, enjoying the Maltese spring weather and raising funds for our nature reserves. We are very grateful for everyone’s contributions and want to thank everyone who participated in this years Walk for Nature.”

As a staple in BirdLife Malta’s events calendar, the Walk for Nature provides the perfect opportunity for families to enjoy the outdoors during springtime, as well as raise awareness of nature conservation.
