Yamaha Gozo Motocross Championsh­ip Quarterfin­als held over the weekend

The Gozo Motorcross Associatio­n organised its quarterfin­als of the championsh­ip 2018 at Ta’ Xħajma Track. Sixteen riders participat­ed in today’s event, watched by numerous fans who came to support their favourite riders.The championsh­ip is now coming to a close. Some riders have a large number of points and some less.

In Class A, Steve Xuereb and David Dimech fought for first place while Robert Spiteri and Keith Bugeja strived for third. During the first and third heats, Xuereb defeated Dimech. Therefore Xuereb won this category by a few points over Dimech who followed in second place. Robert Spiteri won third place.

In Class B Nataniel Camilleri sailed easily into first place followed by Jorn Stellini. Maltese veteran rider Lewis Debono came in third place

In Class C, Anthony Fenech and Matthew Spiteri achieved the same amount of points, therefore according to the GMA rules, the rider who wins the first heat is entitled to the trophy. Matthew Buttigieg came in second while newcomer Glenn Vella won this category by maximum points.

At the end of the day’s event, the president of the GMA awarded trophies to the winners. He announced that apart from the championsh­ip’s semi-final which will be held on the 8th April, the Yamaha Gozo Motocross Associatio­n will be organising another FunRace with the highlight being 125cc racing. He urged all those who have 125cc dirtbikes to register and participat­e in this exciting event. The winners will take home motocross accessorie­s. The Funrace will take place on Easter Sunday, the 1st of April 2018. Event starts at 1pm.
