St Lucia held to a draw by Luqa SA

St Lucia also experience­d a minor hiccup in their promotion chase when they drew 3-3 against Luqa St Andrews in the first match at the Luxol Stadium.

A brace by Sebastian Toro Perdomo put St Lucia 2-0 up on 8 and 19 minutes but Luqa came back strongly through a Craig Marney penalty on 34 minutes and a Jason Good strike on the stroke of half time. Steve Meilaq put St Lucia ahead at the sart of the second half but Lydon Sciberras saved a point for Luqa who now seem out of relegation playoff troubles.

Gudja United confirmed second place with a fine 3-0 victory over Birzebbugi­a St Peters in the second match at the Luxol Stadium.

The goals came from a brace by Ronnie Celeste on 17 and 73 minutes and another strike by Nicholas Zammit on 46 minutes.

Mgarr United continued their fine run when they beat Siggiewi by two goals to nil in the first match at the Centenary Stadium. Lazar Doric opened the scoring on 13 minutes from the penalty spot with Jamie Micallef securing the points two minutes from time.

In an action packed match, Swieqi United and Fgura United drew 2-2 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday. Fgura went ahead from an 18th penalty by Gilbert Martin but Swieqi equalised on 39 minutes through Roderick Taliana. Ryan Sell regained the lead for Swieqi on 61 minutes with Swieqi having missed a penalty two minutes earlier. Nicholas Schembri equalised for Swieqi on 76 minutes with Fgura missing a penalty of their own a few minutes later.

In the second match at the Centenary Stadium, Marsaxlokk beat Attard by two goals to one in another action packed game. Alan Tabone put Marsaxlokk ahead after 26 minutes from the penalty spot and doubled the score 5 minutes from time. Kurt Mifsud pulled one back a minute latter but the South seasiders held on for an important three points.

In the second match, Kalkara and Gharghur drew 3-3 in an action packed encounter. Cain Saliba put Kalkara ahead after 17 minutes with Nikola Tasic doubling on 27 minutes. Kalkara pulled it back to 2-2 with goals from Timmy Thomas on 28 minutes and another on 35 minutes from Leeroy Bonnett. Dylan Lee Tanti retook the lead from Gharghur a minute later with Kalkara eventually equalising in added time through Cristian Jesus Suarez Leon.
