The final scoreline is a clear indication that Pieta had a very easy task in beating Tarxien and they lead the standings on 34 points from 12 games while Tarxien are in fifth position on 13 points, also from 12 games.

The numbers on the Pieta players’ shirts were hardly visible because of their small size and gold colour.

The game was dominated by Pieta as the score clearly shows and they scored eight times at will and their intentions were clearly shown as they started on the offensive from the very first whistle.

The rout commenced in the 12th minute as Karl Attard dribbled past an opponet and scored with a low drive.

Between the 21st and 24th minutes, Pieta scored two more goals. Ghio scored with a low drive from inside the area after a Bouvet through ball and Bone scored with a close-range low shot after a Jeremy Delmar through pass.

Two more goals were scored in the 35th and 36th minutes to make it 5-0 before the break. Samuel Okoh served Delmar on the left flank who netted with a hard drive and Bouvet scored with a hard drive from inside the area after dribbling past a defender.

The dominance by Pieta resumed after the resumption.

The score became 6-0 in the 59th minute as Delmar dribbled past an opponent on the left flank and crossed the ball in the area to Bouvet who scored with a hard rising shot.

It became 7-0 in the 66th minute as Borg Caruana dribbled past an opponent on the right flank and after his cross in the area Bouvet netted with a low drive.

The eighth and final goal was scored five minutes before the end of normal time when Bone pounced on a faulty clearance in Tarxien’s half and scored with a hard grounder from outside the area.
