Okmalta.com leading after round 1

-

The MAPFRE MSV Life national leagues have now reached the first round.

Okmalta.com are leading at the buoy, albeit by a slim margin. Turu’ Knights are hot at their heels with Royal Shock and FINA closing in. The scene is set for a pretty exciting second round.

Okmalta.com improved their lead after an 8-0 victory over Blitzkrieg, despite a low scoring series in which Mauro Anastasi was the only bowler setting a high series of 616.

A heroic 237 game from Matthew G Littlejohn was not sufficient for Blitzkrieg to score points.

Turu's Knights lost some ground after an exciting game against rivals Royal Shock. The encounter ended in a draw of 4 4 which only served to see both teams lose ground to the leaders whilst allowing Fina to keep inching closer.

Fina were in fact the highest scoring team of the week with a strong 2450 series, pushed by Justin Caruana Scicluna who set the highest score of the week with a 650 total series.

Apart from okmalta.com, MIA also walked away with a maximum of 8 points as they beat Supreme whilst Yobetit continue their good progress after beating SrikeMe 6-2 in game that saw alternations of high and low scores. A high game of 243 from Clayton Mercieca gave Yobetit the desired margin.

Standings Division 1 after the first round: 1. Okmalta.com 2. Turu's knights 3. Royal Shock 4. FINA 5. Strike Me 6. XS 7. Yobetit 8. Blitzgriek 9. Supreme 10. MIA

Meanwhile, in Division 2, three teams are jostling for the podium positions namely Bank of Valletta, Supersonic and J.Grima& Sons. Scotsman Pub have now lost touch with the top teams after a great start.

An 8-0 victory from Atlas over Vintage gives them respite from the relegation zone.
