Aheadf of their forthcoming K.O. final, Depiro were truly surprised by an energetic Siggiewi outfit, who produced an unexpected victory.

Siggiewi are passing through a positive patch, garnering three victories in their last four encounters. Depiro's minds seemed to be elsewhere, and they succumbed to their third league defeat.

The missing foreigners, American, Jack Nygaard, and the Czech, Adam Chomo, showed that they play a large part in Depiro's play, and without them the side quite an ordinary one.

The Serbs, Alex Novokovic and Milan Nedic, returned for Siggiewi, and galvanised their game.

Siggiewi had a bright opening, with a 12-2 run, as Nedic and Novakovic sank triples. Depiro negan their way back, and Kurt Xuereb led the attack, also netting a trey.

Siggiewi opened up their lead again, with a couple of hoops.

In the second period Depiro went nearer, making up a 9-2 run, and a Nicholas Grech trey.

Siggiewi stayed ahead for a while more, before Depiro ended the session with a threehoop run, as they went past their opponents, to go in front for the first time, on a 27-25 score, at the interval.

After the break Miguel Brincat extended Depiro's lead, but Siggiewi retaliated, and a 7-2 run, with another Novakovic trey, had them a point behind.

They stayed close, until a late burst had Depiro, with another Grech triple, going to a 50-41 advantage.

The last session was a nightmare for depiro.

They simply faded away and Siggiewi, smelling blood, struck heavily.

A 3-2 run had them again in the lead. Depiro lost Xuereb, with two technical fouls, and Siggiewi put in another 7-0 personal, Novakovic run.

Depiro tried a comeback, netting a brace of hoops, but time was against them, and Siggiewi made the resulting free throws, as Depiro tried to stop the clock, for a creditable victory.
