MAPFRE Malta work towards gender equality

-

On International Women’s Day, MAPFRE Malta organised a workshop for its women employees, organised by the Network of Young Women Leaders.

The workshop focused on gender stereotypes and roles, with the objective of raising awareness among employees about gender roles and sterotypes and the impacts these have on everyday life, including at the workplace.

At the start of the workshop, an ice-breaking activity helped create a positive and safe space for emploeyees to discuss issues related to this topic. This was followed by a group discussion, in which employees discussed what gender roles and sterotypes are and whether they face gender issues within the organisation. Employees also participated in an idea-generation exercise, focusing on what can be done to tackle such issues.

This activity formed part of the training and development programme of MAPFRE Middlesea and MAPFRE MSV Life.

The Network of Young Women Leaders (NYWL) was set up to promote and encourage the participation of young women in leadership, with a special focus on the political sphere. It works to increase the participation of young women in leadership positions and helps to raise awareness on the challenges that young women face in this process.

MAPFRE Group works to achieve gender equality on a worldwide level. It pledges that in 2018, women will occupy at least 40% of all positions with a management or leadership responsibility. 55% of MAPFRE employees are women, with 39% in management positions (8.7% of which were promoted in the last three years).
