Stanley Cardona wins the QCSC Trap competitio­n

Stanley Cardona made a great comeback to shooting sport as he claimed the QCSC Trap Competitio­n at the Qormi Clay Shooting Club.

Cardona came from behind to take the top spot on the podium after he was trailing to Carmel Grech in all four stages of the final. They were joined on the podium by John Marmara who finished in third place.

After two qualificat­ion rounds of 25 clay targets each, the six Finalists in the Bib number order were;

Stanley Cardona 42/50+1, Rudolph Zammit 42/50+0, John Marmara 41/50, Carmel Grech 39/50, Jean Pierre Mifsud 38/50 and Paul Gatt 37/50+1

After the shooters competed in the Final stages starting from zero, the official overall results were;

1st Stanley Cardona 16/25 + 4/5 + 3/5 + 2/5 + 8/10, total score 33/50

2nd Carmel Grech 17/25 + 4/5 + 3/5 + 2/5 + 6/10, total score 32/50

3rd John Marmara 15/25 + 4/5 + 3/5 + 3/5, total score 25/40

4th Rudolph Zammit 15/25 + 3/5 + 2/5, total score 20/35

5th Jean Pierre Mifsud 15/25 + 3/5, total score 18/30

6th Paul Gatt 15/25, score 15/25

The top three Shooters in their respective classes concluded their two qualificat­ion rounds with the following scores: total

Class A 1st Joe Xuereb 37/50 (Count Back Rule) 2nd Stephen Vella 37/50 3rd George Mifsud 34/50

Class B 1st Stanley Cardona 42/50 (Count Back Rule) 2nd Rudolph Zammit 42/50 3rd John Marmara 41/50

Class C 1st Paul Gatt 37/50 2nd Michael Galea 36/50 3rd Reno Gatt 31/50

The MSSF Shotgun Trap Programme will continue on Sunday 15th April 2018 at the Qormi Clay Shooting Club.
