What brought you to Malta?

A Scottish couple said they wanted to go somewhere where the weather is warm and sunny because, unlike Scotland, where the weather is cold. A German woman said she came to Malta because she has an internship and she chose Malta because she feels safe and likes the weather here. Two men from Norway said that the army gave them two weeks free time and they decided to visit Malta.

What do you like about Malta?

A Spanish couple told us that they like the Maltese because they are multicultural people, kind and respectful, adding that they would like to stay longer. Two Spanish men said that they like Maltese women and the night life.

What is the best thing that Malta offered you?

An Asian woman that has been living in Malta for about three months told us that her favourite place was Comino because the sea there is beautiful. She mentioned the famous Blue Lagoon. On the other hand the Scottish couple told us that the best thing is the great weather. A Brazilian woman said one of the reasons she came Malta is because it’s the cheapest place to learn the English language.

What is the worst thing about Malta?

A Portuguese said he had trouble using public transport. He said he had wasted a lot of time the day before waiting for a bus that took ages to arrive. The Spanish men also said that the daily routine gets kind of boring because “everything is the same” and it’s also a small island and you can’t admire the beauty of it. An Asian woman mentioned the rubbish and cigarette butts in the streets.

Why did you come in April instead of summer?

The Scottish couple said that they had free time at the moment. Tourists from France, Hungary and Brazil said flights are cheaper in spring time. A French woman said that in April there are less people and the flights are cheaper. A couple from Germany said that the temperature in summer is extremely hot and it’s overcrowded with tourists and also said that the flights are cheaper.

What do you think about the Maltese people?

The Asian woman said the Maltese are friendly people with “nice smiles.” The Spanish men and the Brazilian woman said that the Maltese are very helpful and kind people. A French woman said that some Maltese don’t greet her the way people do in France and the Portuguese man said that he only met one person and he was a bit rude. The Scots said that the Maltese are amazing people and the Hungarian woman also said that they are very respectful.

What would you like to see improved in Malta?

A German woman told us that we can improve traffic by reducing the number of cars, such as through carpooling and greater use of public transport. The Portuguese said he would like to see more work opportunities.

Would you recommend Malta to your friends?

Most of the tourists interviewed said yes. Only two said no. A French woman said that she would recommend Malta, but just for a two-week holiday.
