The Malta International Fireworks Festival concludes in a spectacular manner
Rozzi Fireworks win the Pyro-Musical Competition
The third and final night of the Malta International Fireworks Festival unfolded splendidly at the Grand Harbour on Monday evening. This followed previous nights in Gozo and Marsaxlokk.
The event in Valletta kicked off with a concert together with a brass band and talented singers, performing live on a floating stage, accompanied by traditional Maltese fireworks. The latter were exhibited by Lourdes Fireworks Factory of San Ġwann, St Philip’s Fireworks Factory of Żebbuġ and St. Michael’s Fireworks Factory of Lija. All three factories exhibited spherical shells (blalen) and cylindrical shells (sfejjer).
Immediately after, the judges’ decision was declared. There were four competing firework factories in the pyro-musical section of the festival. The results are as follows:
4th place: Martarello SRL, from
Italy 3rd place: Phoenix Fireworks from the UK 2nd place: St. Mary's Fireworks Factory from Ghaxaq, Malta 1st place: Rozzi Fireworks
from the USA
The crowd was wowed by a breathtaking pyro-musical show exhibited by Pyroemotions. Singers like Glen Vella and Amber performed a medley of Maltese music, in memory of Tony ‘Bayzo’ Camilleri, together with well known tracks by various artists and the late Avicii. The medley was specifically arranged by Elton Zarb. All this was accompanied by fireworks let off in the harbour, resulting in an unforgettable spectacle.
