John Marmara wins Qormi trap selection

John Marmara won the QormiSC Trap competitio­n at the Qormi Clay Shooting Club.

In a windy and rather foggy day, Marmara was joined on the podium by Mario Buhagiar who finished in second place and by George Mifsud who had to settle for third place overall.

After two qualificat­ion rounds of 25 clay targets each, the six finalists in the Bib number order were:

Mario Buhagiar 42/50, Emanuel Zammit 40/50, John Marmara 38/50+2, Angel Ciappara 38/50+1, George Mifsud 38/50+0 and George Cassar with Bib number six with the score of 37/50+1 after a two-way shootoff with George Grech.

This weekend’s official overall results were:

1st John Marmara 17/25 + 1/5 + 5/5 + 5/5 + 8/10, total score 36/50

2nd Mario Buhagiar 19/25 + 2/5 + 4/5 + 3/5 + 6/10, total score 34/50

3rd George Mifsud 15/25 + 3/5 + 3/5 + 3/5, total score 24/40

4th Emanuel Zammit 15/25 + 3/5 + 1/5, total score 19/35

5th George Cassar 14/25 + 4/5, total score 18/30

6th Angel Ciappara 11/25, total score 11/25

The top three shooters in their respective classes concluded their two qualificat­ion rounds with the following scores: Class A 1st Mario Buhagiar 42/50 2nd Emanuel Zammit 40/50 3rd George Mifsud 38/50 Class B 1st John Marmara 38/50 (Count Back Rule) 2nd Angel Ciappara 38/50 3rd George Grech 37/50 Class C 1st Jason Magri 34/50 2nd Steve Azzopardi 33/50 3rd George Polidano 32/50
