Monster Energy Autocross and Motocross tomorrow
Tomorrow Assocjazzjoni Sport Muturi u Karozzi will continue with the National Autocross Championship by ASMK and Pasta Poiatti 2017/2018. During this event there will also be Motocross races who will be competing from early morning in a Fun Race. This Fun Race is open to all amateur Offroad motorcycle riders especially for those riders who come for training at the ASMK Tracks but still do not take part in the Motocross Championship.
The international firm Monster Energy, is making a tour around the world by a special Truck to promote this drink in sport. On this particular Sunday of 20th May this truck will be in Malta at Ta’ Qali Race Circuits during the ASMK activity for the Autocross and Motocross. This was made possible by special initiative of the General Soft Drinks Co. Ltd who represents Monster Energy drink in Malta so this special truck can be viewed and enjoyed by all Maltese people and by motorsport enthusiasts too.
The racing program on Sunday 20th May begins at 10. 00 am with Motocross and continue with the Autocross car races from 01. 00 pm. All this will be held at the ASMK Sports Complex in Ta' Qali.
Meanwhile, last Saturday 12 May 2018 ASMK continued the events with the Wotomoto National Enduro Championship 2017/2018 with the fifth event organized in Pembroke at Whiterocks. 17 competitors competed on a 3 kilometers course of road paths while they were divided into three classes.
During the Pole Position Joseph Scicluna on a KTM dominated with his best time of 5 minutes 25.610 seconds. Scicluna was followed by Bernard Sammut by a difference of 4.892 seconds and by Matthew Gauci with 11.694 seconds difference in Lap time. Gauci and Sammut competed on Beta motorcycles.
The competition for the best time started following the Pole Position where each rider competes in two Heats in his class and registering his Lap Time by means of electronic devices attached to each motor cycle.
Following the two Heats of Class A James Zahra on Sherco registered his best time of 4 minutes 54.142 seconds. Along with Zahra the competition was mainly for 2nd place between Scicluna and Sammut but despite all efforts by Sammut and Scilcuna both failed to beat the best time of Zahra. This resulted in Zahra winning the race ahead of Sammut who finished with a best time of 4 minutes 54.583 and Scicluna who finished in third place with his best Lap of 4 minutes 54.611 seconds. Fourth place finisher is Matthew Gauci on a Beta with 4 minutes 58.821 seconds while 5th placed Ian Scicluna on a KTM lapped the course in 5 minutes 29.590 seconds.
In Class B Gabriel Muscat on KTM dominated his class with his best time of 5 minutes 50.150 seconds. Muscat finished ahead of Aidan Camilleri on a KTM with his best time of 5 minutes 58.392 seconds while third place finisher Krist Falzon on Husqvarna registered his best Lap in 6 minutes 6.951 seconds. Fourth and fifth place finishers were Clayton Schembri on a KTM and Rowen Bonello on a Beta respectively.
In Class C Kyle Stone on KTM registered his best time of 7 minutes 5.030 seconds. Stone was followed by Kurt Muscat on Yamaha with a best time of 7 minutes 28.192 seconds. Third place finisher in this Class C is Luke Borg on a KTM with his best Lap time of 7 minutes 34.579 seconds. Fourth place finisher is Mario Gatt on a Honda who participated for the first time in this Moto-Enduro race.
The Last Enduro event of this season will be held on 24th June 2018. This event will be held at the island of Gozo at San Lawrenz where striking views of countryside and sea dominate the location
In preparation for the first ever ‘SUV Demolition Derby’ which is scheduled to be held on 28 July 2018, a meeting is being held for interested competitors on Wednesday 23rd May 2018 at 8pm. This is to take place at the ASMK Club House in IMtarfa. During this meeting the prospective competitors will be presented with a copy of the new regulations for this SUV’s Demolition. The competitors can register for this event during the meeting.
