MESA’s 37-strong contingent for WCS Games in France

- Athletics: Badminton: Beach Volley: Bowling: Cycling: Darts:

A 37-strong contingent of athletes participat­ing in six different sport discipline­s will be representi­ng the Malta Employees Sports Associatio­n (MESA) in the second edition of the World Company Sport Games taking place between tomorrow and Sunday in La Baule in France.

MESA, which organises various sports activities for workers in all sectors, has been taking part for the past four years in these internatio­nal games specifical­ly for workers.

In La Baule, a tourist resort on the Atlantic coast in western France, MESA will be represente­d by the largest contingent ever as these 37 athletes will be taking part in Athletics, Badminton, Beach Volleyball, Bowling, Cycling and Darts.

A staggering 5,000 athletes from all over the world will be taking part in 23 different sport discipline­s in these five day Games, which are being organised by the World Federation for Company Sport (WFCS).

The MESA contingent will be made up of the following athletes:

Paul Apap, Peter Azzopardi, Michael Bezzina, Leslie Camilleri, David Cassar, Matthew Robert Gauci, Marilyn Grech, Adrian Mifsud, Mark Mifsud, Melvin Mifsud, Lawrence Ransley, Matthew Scicluna and Adrian Tanti

Edmond Abela, Joanne Cassar, Jacqueline Degiovanni, Stephen Ferrante, Aldo Polidano, Sandra Spiteri and Kenneth Vella

Ladies – Maria Caruana Demicoli and Isabel Cutajar; Men – Angelo Bonello and David Mario Caruana

BOV – Alan Attard, Hubert Camilleri, James Grech, Mark Serge and Joseph Edward Xuereb; MIA – Aaron Belli, Stephen Cassar, Mario Ellul, Charles Farrugia, Charles Galea and Alfred Pulis Michael Grima

Joseph Mallia Earlier this week, the MESA contingent met Prime Minister Dr Joseph Muscat at the Auberge De Castille, where Dr Muscat augured the Maltese athletes success during these Games.

Present for this meeting were Parliament­ary Secretary responsibl­e for Sport, Dr Clifton Grima, and Principal Permanent Secretary Mario Cutajar.

The MESA contingent, led by President Mark Marlow, leaves Malta today and returns next Monday.
