Adopt a bird with BirdLife Malta and become a #BirdHero

- Blue Rock Thrush

Do you love birds? Are you an art lover? Do you have a natureloving friend or family member and always find it hard to get them a present? BirdLife Malta has the perfect solution! You can now ‘adopt’ a bird and become a #BirdHero!

The eNGO has just launched a new bird adoption pack which makes a unique gift while also supporting its efforts in conserving and protecting the birds of the Maltese Islands. Funds collected through this new initiative will go towards the work done by BirdLife to protect birds and their habitats in Malta and Gozo, and to protect the environment across the Maltese Islands.

The pack features a watercolour drawing illustration by talented artist and BirdLife Malta volunteer Nimrod Mifsud. More than that, there are three different illustrations to choose from depicting three different and popular species of wild birds in Malta, including the national bird of Malta – the Blue Rock Thrush, or as it is known in Maltese, il-Merill. The other prints in each of the other two bird adoption packs depict the majestic Peregrine Falcon (Bies) and the elusive Scopoli’s Shearwater (Ċiefa). Each one of these birds is very special to BirdLife Malta as it represents different aspects of the work carried out by the organisation to educate, research and campaign.

Through the ‘adoption’ of these birds, one would be supporting BirdLife Malta’s efforts to educate and connect people to nature, to rehabilitate injured birds, to research the island’s most secretive birds and, of course, protect them and their environment across the Maltese islands – a staggering yet vital task which can only be completed successfully with such fundraising initiatives.

Original A4 prints of these three illustrations come with an array of other exciting items forming the bird adoption packs. In fact, each pack also includes an adoption certificate which can be personalised as a gift, an information sheet about each species with everything you need to know about your chosen ‘adopted bird’, regular e-updates about BirdLife Malta’s work every six months, as well as a digital copy of BirdLife Malta’s members’ magazine Bird’s Eye View four times throughout the year. All this for €20 a year!

Support BirdLife Malta’s efforts in conserving and protecting the wild birds of the Maltese Islands by adopting a bird and becoming a #BirdHero for just €20 a year! Surprise your nature lover friend with a unique gift that makes a positive difference to wildlife. Peregrine Falcon The Peregrine Falcon (Bies) represents BirdLife Malta’s efforts to protect and rehabilitate wild birds that are illegally targeted, exhausted from migration, or otherwise injured. Through the eNGO’s ongoing efforts, it manages to rehabilitate and release injured birds back in the wild. Taking this bird “under your wing” helps BirdLife Malta to better monitor bird migration and illegalities across the Maltese Islands. Scopoli’s Shearwater The Scopoli’s Shearwater (Ċiefa) represents BirdLife Malta’s long and ongoing research on seabirds that started in the 1950s. Through its research, it has managed to collect data on the breeding populations, their behaviour, as well as creating protected areas around Malta. Taking this bird “under your wing” helps BirdLife Malta to better understand these secretive birds and tackle their threats across the Maltese Islands. The Blue Rock Thrush (Merill), being the national bird of Malta, represents BirdLife Malta’s environmental education work, through which it strives to connect children, youths and adults with nature. BirdLife Malta works to generate understanding and respect for the environment, and to inspire change in people’s behaviour towards sustainable lifestyles. Taking this bird “under your wing” helps BirdLife Malta reach out and connect more people with nature. • Bird’s Eye View FREE shipping in Malta and Europe
