Maltese singing sensation Emma Muscat was given a warm welcome home by hundreds of fans this evening at Malta International Airport.

Masses of Maltese fans descended upon the arrivals lounge at the airport to provide a welcome-home party for the Italian talent show Amici contestant, as she arrived home from Italy.

Flanked by her manager, Emma appeared to be delighted to be back in her homeland.

Speaking to the press moments after her arrival at 6pm, Emma said, “It was one of the best experiences of my life, I don’t regret a thing.”

Asked what she missed most about Malta, Emma replied, “The island itself, the sun the sea, my dog and my Mum’s food.”

She added she has no plans to take part in any other competitions, and wishes to focus producing her own music, she said in response to speculation she may be looking at participating in the Eurovision Song Contest.

Swarmed by dozens of screaming fans and a euphoric atmosphere, Emma carved her way through the crowds at the arrivals lounge, prior to stopping for autographs and take endless selfies with her adoring fans.

Countless fans who had been waiting all afternoon to secure a great spot to catch the musician, held placards, flowers and balloons to welcome Emma back, many of them in floods of tears.

Culture Minister Owen Bonnici also greeted the singer at the airport.

Emma said she was at the moment feeling very proud to have been the only Maltese contestant in the show. She noted being disconnected from the outside world during her time on the show had been a positive experience, aside of missing her family.

Fans were quick to ask her about her romance with fellow contestant, the Italian singer Biondo, to which she replied the pair are very close.

When asked for a message to her adoring fans Emma replied, “Believe in yourself, if you think because you are from Malta you can’t make it, believe me you can.”

Emma has spent the last week touring Italian cities and meeting Italian fans prior to her return home. The talented singer had said she “couldn’t wait to get home” after spending the past six months on the show.

Earlier this week it was announced Emma has been offered a major record deal with Warner Music. Emma also broke the record for the most followed Maltese celebrity on Instagram, with over 500,000 followers.
