Partit Demokrtiku MP roots for Europe’s Youths at OSCE
Godfrey Farrugia, a Partit Demokratiku MP, has writt en and sponsored a Malta Parliament resolution at the OSCE ( Organization for Security and Co- operation in Europe) Parliamentary Assembly. This resolution, tit l ed ‘A Shared Priority: Fostering Peace and Security t hrough enabling Young People to reach their Full Potential’, was cosponsored by 29 Parliament ary delegations and has been approved by t he General Committee on Economic Affairs, Science, Technology and Environ- ment with 36 votes in f avour, none against and three abstentions.
This resolution urges t he 57 participating states in t he OSCE t o commit to i nvolving young people in decision- making and sustainable development f or t he well- being of society. It also calls on OSCE to f oster peace of mind and make Europe a safer place to l i ve i n.
The resolution i dentifies t he developmental chall enges facing young people t oday, and recommends valid entry points at re- gional, national and i nternational l evels. Such youth strategies aim t o empower youths and guarantee young people’s human dignity, freedom, social j ustice, solidarity and equity.
Partit Demokratiku said it was proud to foster Malta’s success abroad, by l eading by example, participating constructively with i nternational and European bodies, and striving f or Malta to succeed not t hrough l oopholes, opportunism and greed, but t hrough proper cooperation and engagement.
