10 artists celebrate their Żabbar roots
‘Roots in Colour’ will be the theme of an exhibition featuring works by ten artists who share the same roots as having been born and bred in Żabbar.
The 10 participating artists are Miriam Borg, Bernice Buttigieg, Alex Dalli, Louise Ellul, Erica Chircop, Pia Magro, Anthony Vella, Mario Portelli, Marlene Grech and James Vella Clark.
“When we were considering which artists to invite, we realised that Żabbar has produced a lot of talent. In fact, we are very happy to have managed to confirm a list of established and not so established artists who will be exhibiting together for the first time, making this exhibition a highly-anticipated event,” Says Ġużeppi Theuma, the Secretary of Żabbar Sanctuary Museum and organiser of this exhibition.
The collective exhibition will feature paintings as well as ceramics and will be open to the public between the 1st and the 23rd of September at the Sanctuary Museum located adjacent to the parish church, coinciding with the parish feast.
“Although the artists all hail from Żabbar, they do not know each other and have never had the opportunity to meet or collaborate together. This exhibition is therefore turning out as an interesting project which will also help these artists learn from each other’s work, proving that art can bridge any form of gap. It will also help Żabbar’s residents appreciate the talent that came out from our town,” added Ġużeppi Theuma.
